Local boy Jack Johnson returned to the stage after a yearlong hiatus last weekend, headlining the sold-out 2007 Kokua Festival at the Waikiki Shell.
For a full review of the Saturday show, click here. Star-Bulletin staff photographer Richard Walker was there from start to finish, and he was nice enough to hook me up with additional pictures that didn’t make it into print.
The concert started with a performance by The Girlas:
Girla Tiffa Cruz Garza:
Next up was Matt Costa:
Not only did he play guitar, but harmonica and keyboard, too:
Ernie Cruz Jr. and friends were up next.
Ernie’s brother, John Cruz, joined him onstage along with Shawn Ishimoto and Johnny Helm.
Eddie Vedder joked that following Cruz was his “punishment” for not playing at Kokua Festival sooner. After starting his set alone, he was soon joined by the Locals Only Band:
Vedder looked relaxed:
Yet ready to rock:
Waimanalo’s own Boom Gaspar:
Towards the end of Vedder’s set, Johnson came out to help with a few songs:
Then it was Johnson’s turn to take control of the concert:
Another shot of Johnson and his band:
He seemed a bit nervous at first, but quickly found his way:
Another close-up shot:
Ernie Cruz Jr. comes back out to play one more song with Johnson:
Then it was Vedder’s turn:
The crowd seemed to like the show:
