After paying a visit to Puck’s Alley over the weekend, I’ve got a few more details about what’s happening in the area.
While there are a number of other businesses operating in the complex, the biggest reaction was over the possible shutdown of Magoo’s.
As of right now, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Sources tell me that Magoo’s is trying to take care of some lease issues, and one of the results has been the decision to close the kitchen. Yesterday was supposed to be the last day food would be available.
That’s why there’s a “For Lease” sign on the fence in front of the dining area. Remember when an adjoining wall was knocked down to make way for more seating? It appears that part of Magoo’s (as well as the sushi bar along the mauka wall) has its own lease.
The bar itself, however, isn’t in any immediate danger of shutting down.
Representatives for Magoo’s and the property management company that oversees Puck’s Alley have ignored my requests for comment, so I’ll keep digging until I get some sort of “official” word about the bar.
As far as the rest of Puck’s Alley goes, the businesses that are open now intend to stay that way. Redevelopment might be coming to the area, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen for a while.
