Aloha from Las Vegas, where it’s already Monday morning.
I’m sitting at a gate in McCarran Airport, waiting for my 2:30 a.m. flight home after a week on the mainland. I’ll have more about my trip and picks for Halloween on Tuesday.
But for now, I’m going to concentrate on not falling asleep before boarding starts. It’s been a long day… I’ve been up since 3 a.m. Hawaii time, and knowing me, I don’t think I’ll be able to get much sleep on the plane.
Which means I’ll probably still be up when we land around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning in Honolulu.
See you Tuesday!

So much for free Internet while I’m in Las Vegas.
My cell phone service plan includes wireless access at all Starbucks locations at home, but it doesn’t look like the deal is the same up here on the Strip.
That means I get to pay $13 a day to check e-mail and surf the Web.
Ouch.
It was also painful losing money in various poker rooms today. At least I have another day to make it back, and I’ve yet to try my hand at the craps tables.
Wish me luck!
Daily picks are on the way for tomorrow and Thursday, and I’ll have a weekend rundown posted on Friday.
Oh, and please keep the 500,000 displaced California residents in your prayers tonight. They need it.

The promoters behind “The Monkey Bar” have decided to pull the plug on Saturday nights at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, almost one year to the day after launching the weekly party.
That leaves tonight and next weekend’s “Witches Ain’t Sh–t” Halloween bash as your final two chances to get down with the Vertical Junkies, Tantriq and Architechs Hawaii. Dress up on Oct. 27 and you’ll pay just $5 to get in, with a chance to win the $1000 grand prize for best costume and another $2000 in prizes.
No word where any of the crews will show up next, but you can bet they wouldn’t leave such a lucrative location without something else in the works.

If you have the time on Sunday, don’t miss a special performance by living legend Eddie Kamae at Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki.
In conjunction with the Hawaii International Film Festival, Kamae and his wife, Myra Kamae, will be on hand to screen the Hawaii premiere of “Lahaina: Waves of Change.” The Kamaes co-produced the project with Dennis Mahaffay and Lisa Altieri Sosa; Robert Pennybacker and Steve Okino wrote the script and Ka’upena Wong served as narrator.
