Jack Johnson’s pal Matt Costa is coming back to Honolulu after two visits in 2007.
I missed his first appearance at NextDoor last January, but managed to catch his set at the Waikiki Shell during the annual Kokua Festival.
Costa will return to Chinatown for a repeat performance at NextDoor on April 15, then fly to Maui for a gig at the Hard Rock Cafe the next day.
Also in town that week: Indie rockers Say Anything. They’ll play Pipeline Cafe on April 16.
Pre-sale tickets for Costa’s 18-and-over show are $25; visit BAMP’s website for more details. Say Anything tickets don’t seem to be available for purchase just yet.
Oh, and in case you were wondering: one year ago, fans paid $15 in advance and $20 at the door to see Costa.
And that $25 price listed above? That’s in advance, but you also have the option to purchase a VIP table (including bottle service) for $350.
Inflation? Rising transportation costs? Unabashed greed?
You decide.
But the bottom line is the BAMP crew continues to bring quality acts on a steady basis in 2008. Don’t hate… congratulate!

Chris Fenn -
You’re right, that might explain it.
Ouch.
Hope you guys find the donkeys responsible for the theft.
I think price inflation is normal for all gigs, whenever someone gets “big” prices always go up. that’s natural. i remember modsef was like 20 something, but his last gig was 50! but i agree bamp brings in plenty of great bands and it’s at a very reasonable price (less then 30).
I went to both shows last year and thought NextDoor was too small a place for his shows. A slightly bigger venue would be better. Oh well.
