Can’t NOC the Hustle, Vol. 1 [AUDIO]

It’s hard to believe that the Nocturnal Sound Krew didn”t release a single mixtape during their first decade of existence.
According to DJ Eskae, the most visible member of the group in 2007, that was the situation.
Everything changes today, however, when “Can’t NOC the Hustle, Vol. 1″ appears at local retailers Fitted, KICKS/HI, In4mation, Queens and Exclusive.
East coast fans will also be able to pick it up at Reed Space in New York City.
I guess the catch is that Eskae calls this an “official” mixtape. I’m pretty sure there were a few “unofficial” mixtapes by the guys over the years, but DJ Compose gets the call to throw down on this one.
“Can’t NOC the Hustle” isn’t the most revolutionary material. Most of the tracks are already out there, like M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes,” Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” and Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar.” Other artists featured include Common, Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne, Pete Rock and Little Brother.
There’s also not much evidence of Compose on the tracks, other than some scratching out of each one. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you don’t like a lot of chatter overlapping with the music (e.g. anything Clinton Sparks puts out there – “GET FAMILIAR!!!”).
Local rapper/clothing designer/all-around nice guy Tassho Pearce (aka EMIRC) makes an appearance, giving Jay-Z’s “Roc Boys” a NSK twist with “NOC Boys.”

Eskae, Compose and a few of their closest friends will celebrate the release tonight with a VIP mixtape release party at NextDoor.
Didn’t get an invite? Come after 9 p.m. to watch them open the A-Trak and Kid Sister show.
If you didn’t know, A-Trak is the tour DJ for Kanye West. Check out his entry on the Fool’s Gold blog about traveling on the road through Europe with the Louis Vuitton Don.
Should be fun!

awesome…. exactly like I wanted it to be.
however, if you actually know and understand what’s going on, you’ll see how I freaked it. subtle, yet flipped.
maybe next time i’ll go about it at a more “dumbed down” approach… thanks for the words.
