I’m still a little torn over the decision to move tonight’s Jason Mraz (pictured) concert from the Blaisdell Concert Hall to the Waikiki Shell.

Next week’s “Ultimate Tribute Festival to Bob Marley” at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, also known as “Bob Fest,” features a number of big-name reggae acts, including Alpha Blondy, Morgan Heritage and Tanya Stephens.
But one of the more intriguing bands is Public Property, which boasts two members with Hawaii ties: David Bess, a 1999 ‘Iolani grad (Go Raiders! Cheeeeeeee!), and Mareva Minerbi, who graduated the same year from Mid-Pacific Institute.
I got a chance to chat with Bess earlier this week, which resulted in this story that appears in today’s HiLife section of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

What a busy week. I’ve got a bunch of stuff coming out in the paper this weekend, but that meant putting in some major work over the last few days.
You can see some of it in this week’s HILife, including a feature on Davey Shindig (pictured above with his KTUH co-host Molly Firecracker) and my weekly column, “In the Mix.”
Back to Shindig for a moment. His show on KTUH is called “Party Shuffle” and is definitely worth a listen if you’re free from noon to 3 p.m. HST Fridays and interested in hearing something new.

It’s hard to believe that the Nocturnal Sound Krew didn”t release a single mixtape during their first decade of existence.
According to DJ Eskae, the most visible member of the group in 2007, that was the situation.
Everything changes today, however, when “Can’t NOC the Hustle, Vol. 1″ appears at local retailers Fitted, KICKS/HI, In4mation, Queens and Exclusive.
East coast fans will also be able to pick it up at Reed Space in New York City.

Are you on the bandwagon?
Maybe it’s because I’m a USC graduate (Fight On Trojans!) who is more interested in watching my team destroy Illinois on New Year’s Day, but I’m having a hard time getting jacked up for the Sugar Bowl and the University of Georgia.
That hasn’t stopped local residents from spending thousands of dollars on travel packages to New Orleans, site of the annual bowl game that will feature the country’s only undefeated team (even in overtime, not just ‘regulation’).
The Warriors have also inspired a number of local artists to record new music in tribute to the team’s incredible run. I’ve got singles from Frank De Lima, Willie K and Cory Oliveros for you to listen to after the jump.
And don’t forget to check out my post about the Good Neighbor Fund Holiday Sale for a shot at some Christmas cheer, courtesy yours truly – just be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page!

Last week, Vibe Magazine released their picks for the 51 best rappers on popular social networking site MySpace.com.
That’s one MC for every state, plus the District of Columbia.
My first thought when I heard about the list was (of course):
Who made it from Hawaii?

There’s a lot of stuff going on Friday, but I’m still going to try my best to get to Red Lion University for Missing Dave’s eighth anniversary party.
Singer Daena Dempsey and guitarist Keith Monzen, pictured above, and the rest of the band will be joined on stage by Pimpbot, LoveChile and Busekrus starting at 8 p.m.

Hot on the heels of Halloween and more than a week before Thanksgiving arrives in the islands, Hawaii’s own Go Jimmy Go (pictured) kicks open the doors on this year’s holiday season with a brand new album.
“Holiday Hell Yeah!” contains 10 ten tracks of ska goodness, with an equal mix of original music and Christmas covers.
