Look out weekend, here I come… [AUDIO]

I’m still a little torn over the decision to move tonight’s Jason Mraz (pictured) concert from the Blaisdell Concert Hall to the Waikiki Shell.
Sure, it’s going to be a great show under the stars in Waikiki. But after watching Mraz perform at the Hawaii Theatre in 2005, I think I’d prefer the more intimate confines of the Concert Hall.
Doesn’t matter to him, though. Mraz said he’s just excited to be coming back to the islands; check out what he had to say during this exclusive interview that appears in today’s HiLife.
Mraz’s big song right now is “I’m Yours,” a tune that’s actually a couple of years old but didn’t get the full studio treatment until his latest album, “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.”
I might be giving away what tonight’s encore is going to sound like, but here’s an .mp3 from a 2006 performance in South Korea:
Also in HiLife this week, I’ve got news about DJ Vegas Mike Licata, who left Honolulu last month to expand his “Acid Wash 80’s” party concept to Ghostbar on the Las Vegas Strip. “In the Mix” also contains my picks for this weekend and next week, including Cinco de Mayo.
More options for this weekend are also available here and here.
Finally, if there are any ladies out there who aren’t shy about expressing their desire for implants, get down to the W Honolulu every Friday in May for your shot at free surgery.
The Architechs, Tantriq and Island Fire Entertainment have partnered with Dr. Greg Herbich for “The Playground: GO BIG.” All you have to do is fill out an entry form (one entry per person, per week) for a shot at free breast augmentation.
Hmm. Now that I think about it, any smart female out there will get all her guy friends to come party with her… and fill out entry blanks.
And don’t forget: The Cool Kids at Fashion45 tonight!

Right on the money with the concert being less intimate. I also personally think he sounded better when it’s just him and his guitar. He played a lot from his new album, so I was a little disappointed with the play list. But what distracted me the most was the small minority of loud, obnoxious, inebriated “non-locals” that almost ruined the whole concert for the vast majority of us in the grass.
But you had to expect the new stuff with his album due in stores this month.
Honolulu is one of his final full dress rehearsals, so to speak, before Mraz leaves for a summer tour in Europe, Japan and Australia.
Even though I didn’t know some of the songs, I could tell that I wanted to get my hands on the album so I could better familiarize myself!
Sorry to hear about your lawn experience. Used to be that the crowd could regulate itself when it came to troublemakers.
By the way… I’ve got pictures and video from the show coming in the next few days.
Hey I noticed your video on youtube and came here, i was at the concert but further back (row 18) and didn’t have a camera. Did you video tape the whole show? If so any way i could get that from you i’d gladly buy a copy, it was a great night, thanks
Had a really great time during the concert. Jason Mraz is a total performer. The concert was amazing, sound system was great considering it’s outdoor. During the first part there seems to be something wrong with some of the speakers.. nevertheless, it was awesome. Will a video of the concert be out anytime soon?
