Since there’s no “In the Mix” in today’s Star-Bulletin, I’m hooking you up with an expanded edition of my weekend picks.
With Hot Import Nights in town and two new venues opening, there’s already lots to do. But keep your options open, and you’ll find there are even more parties worth checking out on Friday and Saturday.
It’s usually the guys who look forward to Hot Import Nights, which always brings a ton of models to go along with the automobiles.
Jeri Lee (pictured) is in town to celebrate her birthday, too, so you can bet at least of few of these ladies will be getting crazy in the club.
Start on Friday with the HIN Pre-Party Celebration Bash at Zanzabar, with Mia Valerio and Kim Do joining Jeri Lee and DJs John Magic, Groove and Eyrro. Doors open at 9 p.m. for the 18-and-over crowd.
Saturday is the car show itself, from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Blaisdell.
On Sunday, the HIN Official After-Party goes down at Venus Nightclub from 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Gia Lee and Kim Do will join local go-go dancers Sheleen and Rachel, with DJ Betty on the decks. This one is 18-and-over as well.
If the newest party in town is where you want to be, head to Tsukiji Fish Market at Ala Moana on Friday and Sparky’s inside the International Marketplace on Saturday.
A hui of local promoters, including Moguls Entertainment, Racesauce, Kaizo Speedgear and Evol Entity, have teamed up for a 21-and-over weekly at Tsukiji.
Doors open at 10 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Ho’okipa Terrace; DJ K-Smooth will be joined on the decks by members of the Main Ingredient and the Nocturnal Sound Krew.
On Saturday, Fire moves from Lulu’s to Sparky’s inside the International Marketplace. Micah Banks hosts the 18-and-over party, with DJs Blake and Peter Lau on the turntables.
Wrap up the weekend with a house party of sorts, as trumpeters Phil and Bob Scellato play with their band at Ward’s Rafters from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
More Friday picks: It’s another KTUH night at Indigo on Friday, as Josh Wink spins a guest set down the street at NextDoor … Malakai, Syx Synce and Devious perform live for the hip-hop crowd at Panama Hattie’s starting at 10 p.m. … Fridays at the Living Room are now known as the Limelight, with hip-hop/r&bupstairs and 80’s music downstairs, plus an open bar from 10 to 11 p.m. …
