The University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources’ Oahu Cooperative Extension Office and Office of Academic and Student Affairs hosted the 2009 Oahu Agriculture and Environmental Awareness Day yesterday at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City. More than 500 students from Barbers Point, Iroquois Point, Keoneula, Aiea, Pearlridge, Pohakea and Maemae elementary schools attended the event, with a twofold aim: to create a greater awareness and understanding of agriculture and the environment and to introduce students to career opportunities in agriculture and environmental studies throughout the state.
