Cadaver display stays longer
If you haven't seen "BODIES ... the Exhibition," there's still time. The scientific, educational display of cadavers at Ala Moana Center has been extended through Jan. 18 before it moves to another city.It had been scheduled to close this month.
The show's chief medical director, Dr. Roy Glover, said in a statement that demand has been "overwhelming," with a wide range of viewers, including many student groups. The exhibits teach anatomy, biology, general science and health.
Purchase tickets in advance at www.bodiestickets.com, or call (877) BODIES5. Cost for adults is $30.58.

Galleries offer holiday sales
Holiday shopping procrastinators can give three cheers for the Chinatown arts district. No need to go picking through leftovers at the malls: On Saturday, five galleries will offer golden opportunities to find meaningful gifts. » Chinatown Boardroom, 1160 Nuuanu Ave., will feature an appearance by artist Cade Roster (his work, pictured at left, is currently exhibiting at the gallery), who will create drawings while you wait. Patrons can even give him requests. Prices start at $10.
» The Studio of Roy Venters, 1160-A Nuuanu Ave., is stocked with vintage ornaments, stockings, wreaths and more.
» The Louis Pohl Gallery, 1111 Nuuanu Ave., will be holding a craft fair.
» Kim Taylor Reece Gallery, 1142 Bethel St., and the Pegge Hopper Gallery, 1164 Nuuanu Ave., will be selling artwork, holiday and otherwise.
The downtown sale will run 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 585-7200.
Perform at Honolulu Festival
Performing arts groups are invited to apply for a spot on the 15th Annual Honolulu Festival stage in March.The three-day celebration, themed "Heart of the Pacific, Creating Our Future," will include live musical and cultural performances, as well as art exhibits.
The free event will run March 13 to 15 at the Hawaii Convention Center, Ala Moana Center, Waikiki Shopping Plaza and Waikiki Beach Walk, ending with a Grand Parade on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.
More than 90 groups performed in the 2008 event, coming from countries throughout the Pacific Rim.
