Saturday
Upstanding Youth and Sheriff Brown

The country comes into town this weekend, when North Shore-based bands Upstanding Youth (pictured) and Sheriff Brown make the trip across the Koolau Mountains to The Loft in Chinatown.

Doors open at 9:30 p.m. for the 21-and-over crowd, with the first set expected to commence about an hour later. Visit the Upstanding Youth's MySpace page (www.myspace.com/upstandingyouth) to sample some of the band's music.

Thursday
"Redda Fire: Salute"

Get a jump on next weekend with DJ Jahson the 45 Revolver on Thursday, when he hosts a special edition of his "Redda Fire" monthly at the Ala Moana nightspot.

"Redda Fire: Salute" will take over both the upstairs club area and the newly remodeled first floor lounge at Fisherman's Wharf, providing two rooms of roots reggae and dancehall music in honor of Bob Marley and Dennis Brown's February birthdays. The music starts at 11 p.m. and will continue until four in the morning.
