Film festival adds screenings of top flicks

The Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival has updated its schedule for the event's last weekend at the Dole Cannery multiplex.

"Chief": Originally part of a program of shorts, the 21-minute film will have its own screening at noon tomorrow, with a $5 admission that includes a Q&A with director Brett Wagner and actor Chief Sielu Avea.

"Jamaica for Sale": An additional screening of the documentary will show at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

"The Good the Bad the Weird": The South Korean homage to the Spaghetti western gets another screening at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (in addition to 7 p.m. tomorrow).

"Cape No. 7": The Taiwanese film, which was this year's winner of the Halekulani Golden Orchid Award for narrative feature, re-screens at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

"Boys Over Flowers": The movie version of the popular Japanese drama shows at 8 p.m. Sunday, along with its originally scheduled 3:15 p.m. tomorow and 1 p.m. Sunday screenings.

"Living Pono with Jason Scott Lee": The documentary shows again at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

Winning shorts: Films recognized in the Honolulu Magazine Award for short film will be shown again Sunday. "The Hollow" shows with "Listen to Me" at 11 a.m.; "Texas Girl" with "Absurdistan" at 5 p.m.; and "Coffee and Allah" with "Heart of Fire" at 5:30 p.m.

Post-screening party: The celebration honoring "The Good the Bad the Weird" actor Jung Woo-sung's Achievement in Acting Award has been moved to the O Lounge from Harbor Court Bistro. The party's still on from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. tomorrow, with tickets going for $20. Call 550-8457 or visit www.hiff.org, which also offers a listing of all HIFF films.
