"Sushi for One?"

By Camy Tang / Zondervan, $16.49

The author, a former Hawaii resident who now lives in San Jose, Calif., writes the "Sushi Series" of sassy contemporary romance novels about four AJA West Coast cousins. The stories combine chick lit with both Asian and Christian sensibilities.

The first in the series, "Sushi for One?" won the 2008 American Christian Fiction Writers' award for best book by a debut author. The book turns on the adventures of Alexis Sakai, a fiercely independent manufacturing engineer and volleyball enthusiast who's looking for love because her grandmother is making her.

The follow-ups "Only Uni" and "Single Sashimi" proceed through the romantic entanglements of Alexis' 30-something cousins in a freewheeling, breezy style.
