Toot your horn: Emiliano Achaval caught a ride up Baldwin Avenue in Makawao, Maui, on his Texas longhorn steer, Mufasa, on Wednesday. Archaval was practicing for next year’s Fourth of July parade. Achaval recently received Mufasa, who will make his home at Makawao’s Rocking K Arena. Mufasa weighs 1,700 pounds and his horns are 911⁄2 inches from tip to tip.
About 100 marchers participated in the 14th annual Men’s March Against Violence held yesterday at the state Capitol. Following the march, an afternoon rally was held, where speakers talked about the rising rate of domestic violence. The names of victims of domestic violence were also read. The event was sponsored by Catholic Charities Hawaii, The Domestic Violence Action Center and Kapiolani Community College.
