SUPERB WITH THE SYMPHONY: Hawaii-born Sean Kennard chatted backstage with concert headliner Jie Chen, left, and Ellen Masaki Oct. 19 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Kennard, a last-minute replacement in the Honolulu Symphony’s “World’s Greatest Piano Concertos” program, dedicated his performance of Grieg’s Concerto for Piano in A minor to Masaki, his first piano teacher. Chen’s exquisite interpretation of Rachmaninoff’s Concerto for Piano No. 2 in C minor earned her a well-deserved and lengthy standing ovation.
