Webcam aids in robbery arrest

Police arrested Friday a 16-year-old boy who was allegedly captured on a Web camera, burglarizing a home in Kaaawa.

Police said the resident returned home at about 6:30 p.m. Monday to find his home burglarized. He had a Web camera running at the time, which may have captured an image of the boy.

Police said the victim showed an image of the boy to neighbors who were able to identify him.

Police seek man in Kapahulu robbery

Police are looking for the man who robbed a Kapahulu retail store yesterday.

The man, in his early 20s, entered the store at about 11:20 a.m. and gave the assistant manager a handwritten note claiming that he had a gun and demanding money. The manager handed him money from the register. Police said the man also robbed a 45-year-old male customer before fleeing on foot down Palani Avenue.

Suspect arrested in alleged assault

Police arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly robbing and choking a woman early yesterday morning in Waianae.

At about 5:20 a.m. yesterday the suspect and a 21-year-old woman argued in the suspect's home at 87-365 Kulawae St. The man allegedly demanded a bracelet the woman was wearing and tried to grab it from her wrist.

Police said when the woman struggled, the suspect allegedly choked her until she lost consciousness. Police arrived to assist the woman, whose bracelet was found in the suspect's pocket.

Woman says man choked her on trail

Big Island police are looking for a man accused of assaulting a 61-year old woman on a Kona hiking trail on Jan. 18.

The woman was walking on the Upper Walua Road trail when the suspect choked her with his arm and then fled, police said.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s, 5 feet 8-inches tall, with dark eyes, dark hair and a raspy voice. He was wearing checkered green pants, tennis shoes and a beige shirt with a geometric pattern in the center.
