Zachary Pezzillo, 15, of Haiku, Maui, was selected as the Tourette Syndrome Association National Scholarship winner. He represented the Hawaii TSA Chapter at the Tourette Syndrome Youth Ambassador training program in Washington, D.C.
The John A. Burns School of Medicine's Surgical Care Fellowship and Dr. Mihae Yu, the program director, received a commendation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The fellowship is a one-year program attended annually by two physicians after completing at least three years in surgery residency training.
The Queen's Medical Center is one of about 700 hospitals out of 5,000 in the nation to be named a Quality Respiratory Care institution by the American Association for Respiratory Care. The 2008 award was earned under a national program to help patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of the respiratory care services available in hospitals.
