ALL LINED UP: The lines of a crosswalk and the window frames of a building along Bishop Street combined to create a study in contours yesterday. A pedestrian's reflection was framed in the window as he crossed the street.
BEAUTY AND THE BRUSH | Nine-year-old T'l Tario had a talk yesterday with a trio of Shetland sheepdogs as she prepared to brush them for their appearance at the Windward All-Breed Dog Show. About 400 dogs competed in the show at King Intermediate School in Kaneohe.
LOVELY HULA HANDS: Luella Lum danced to "Sassafrass" yesterday with Na Wahine O Ka Hula Mai Ka Puuwai at the Hawaii Seniors' Fair -- The Good Life Expo at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

IN WORKING ORDER | The Honolulu Fire Department has joined with several community groups to make sure the homes of the elderly in Papakolea have smoke alarms that were properly installed and are currently working. Kip Akama, left, Francis Apoliona and Joseph Poomaihealani installed a smoke alarm yesterday in the home of Wilfred and Brenda Kekauoha. The HFD Smoke Alarm Installation program was implemented last year with approximately 600 alarms installed for senior citizens.
ACTION AND REFLECTION: Sitting under an energetic brush painting of horses titled "Wrestling," Kenneth Siu, a friend of the artist, D.Q. Liu, contemplated some work on his computer yesterday. Liu is holding an art exhibit at City Hall.
TEACHABLE MOMENT: Sensei Gayne Sogi demonstrates techniques at the Kauai Aikido Expo, held this weekend and presented by the Lihue Aiki Kai at Lihue Hongwanji. Sogi is sensei (teacher) of the Hawaii Betsuin Aikido Club on Pali Highway.
GIANT LEAP FOR CANINE KIND | Manju, a Sheltie owned by Naomi Sakai, flew through the obstacle course yesterday during the American Kennel Club's Dog Agility trials at Salt Lake Elementary School.

MARCH, VIGIL HELD FOR IRIS: A prayer march and candlelight vigil was held yesterday evening for slaying victim Iris Rodrigues-Kaikana at Kamehameha Homes in Kalihi, the site where her body was found on Aug. 24. An unidentified mourner shared his condolences with Iris' father, Steven Rodrigues, middle, after the vigil. Corbit K. Ahn, 29, of Makiki is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly strangling Rodrigues-Kaikana.

GETTING A REAL KICK OUT OF EXERCISE: Miyo Villar led a group through a cardio kickboxing exercise yesterday during a wellness event held at the YWCA on Richards Street.
