Woman killed in accident had forewarning dream

A 79-year-old woman who was killed in a pedestrian accident Tuesday in Moiliili had told a friend her late husband visited her in a dream two days earlier with a warning for her to be careful.
Mal Sun Chun of Aiea was hit by a car while crossing South King Street in a crosswalk near the former Star Market about 10:40 a.m. She was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and died about four hours later, police said.
Chun and several church friends had just gotten off the bus and were heading to lunch when she was hit, said Esther Kim, a longtime friend. Chun, who exercised regularly, was walking ahead of her friends.
Medical officials said Chun died of head injuries.
"She is very generous, and she is very gentle," Kim said. "She's really a warm-hearted (person)."
Police said the 64-year-old woman driving the car that struck Chun was not hurt.
Chun had retired from the Ilikai Hotel as a housekeeper after 26 years and was a member of the Aiea Korean United Methodist Church for nearly 30 years, said Kim, who is the pastor's wife.
Kim said that on Sunday, Chun talked about an unusual dream where her husband appeared and told her to "be careful" because he was "worried about her."
That day, Kim took Chun to the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, where her husband, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, is buried.
Chun cleaned his grave, laid fresh flowers, and said she loved him, Kim said.
Kim said Chun will be buried next to her husband on Nov. 17.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Aiea Korean United Methodist Church with burial at the cemetery at 1 p.m.
Chun's death was the 46th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared with 41 at this time last year.
