Gov. Linda Lingle is partially fulfilling a Hawaii Supreme Court order that she name new members to the University of Hawaii Board of Regents whose terms expired more than six months ago.

Lingle announced today she has selected five people to immediately replace the holdovers, who she had tried to keep on the board rather than nominating new appointments.

The Supreme Court on Dec. 4 gave her 30 days to pick six candidates for the board. Lingle requested additional time from the court to choose the last regent.

The five new regents are University of Hawaii agronomist Ramon de la Pena, Servco Pacific chairman Mark Fukunaga, former University of Hawaii Travel Industry Management Dean Chuck Gee, Tradewind Capital Group Managing Director Eric Martinson and University of Hawaii student Grant Teichman.
