A 66-year-old man from Canada apparently drowned this afternoon while on a snorkeling tour near Kuhio Shores on Kauai, according to a county news release.
The man began having trouble at about 1:40 p.m. and an instructor began helping get to shore, the news release said. Lifeguards from Poipu tower arrived on a personal watercraft and brought the man to shore.
The lifeguards and a firefighter from the Koloa Station performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation on the man, who was pronounced dead at Wilcox Hospital.
