The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Niihau to last through 6 p.m. tomorrow, predicting gusts up to mph or more.

“Gusty southwest winds will increase late tonight on Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Niihau as a strong cold front approaches from the northwest,” according to the weather service’s warning.

The winds “will sweep across Kauai Friday morning, Oahu midday, and Molokai Friday afternoon,” the warning says.

The main area of concern, forecasters say, are “communities to the north and east of the mountains that are prone to gusty downslope winds.”
