Castle High graduate Dean Wilson carded a hole-in-one at the par-3 13th today en route to an opening-round 68 at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas.
Wilson, who gained fame here six years ago when paired with Annika Sorenstam, had two birdies and two bogeys in addition to his ace at the 178-yard hole that is guarded by a lake on the front. The former Kanehoe resident was tied for 24th midway through the opening round of this PGA Tour event.
Wilson fared better than fellow Oahu native Parker McLachlin, who has struggled all year while dealing with a swing change. He shot a 2-over 74 and was near the bottom of the 144-man field. The leaders in the clubhouse were Woody Austin and Tim Clark at 7-under 63.
