Honolulu's Michelle Wie shot a sizzling 6-under 65 today at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Sylvania, Ohio, that left her in a tie for fourth with Suzann Pettersen, just one shot off the lead set by Laura Diaz, Song-Hee Kim and Morgan Pressel.
The Punahou School graduate carded seven birdies and a lone bogey at the par-4 15th. Opening on the back nine, Wie shot 5 under on her first nine holes, including five of six birdies on Nos. 12 through 17.
Starting with the 18th (her ninth), Wie had seven consecutive pars, before closing her round with two birdies on the last three holes for her stellar 65. The Stanford University sophomore hit 11 of 14 fairways and 14 greens in regulation, averaging 270.5 yards off the tee. She needed a meager 25 putts.
