Viloria wins by decision to retain world title

Brian Viloria of Waipahu won a 12-round unanimous decision over Jesus Iribe of Culiacan, Mexico to successfully defend his IBF light flyweight world championship today at the Blaisdell Arena.

Viloria built a lead with scoring combinations as the aggressor in the early rounds, and held on as Iribe attempted a late charge.

Around 4,500 attended the first world title fight in Hawaii since 1976.

Isaac Arasato (Honolulu) by TKO over Donald Gonzalez Jr.(Hilo), 2:15 of the 1st, lightweights.

Justin Mercado (Honolulu) and Richard Barnard (Makakilo) fought to a split decision draw, 4 rounds, welterweights.

Mike Balasi (Honolulu) by KO over Toby Misech (Hilo), 2:37 of the 3rd, welterweights.

A.J. Banal (Cebu City, Philippines) by decision over Jose Beranza (Mexico City), 10 rounds, flyweights.
