Fire crews worked with axes, picks and shovels early today as they fought a brush fire in a heavily forested area atop Pupukea.
No houses are threatened by the blaze in a one-acre area known for the Boy Scout Camp, said Honolulu Fire Capt. Robert Main.
Four engines, two tankers and a helicopter responded to the fire but the crews couldn’t get hoses into the inaccessible area and are fighting it with hand tools, he said.
The fire was reported about 4:27 a.m.
