A flash flood warning has been issued for the island of Oahu until 12:45 a.m. and residents in low-lying areas should move to higher ground now, the National Weather Service said.
The Weather Service changed a flood advisory to a flash flood warning at 9:41 p.m., saying heavy rain was falling at 3 inches per hour at Wilson Tunnel and radar showed stationary heavy rainfall near Kaneohe.
A flash flood warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads, and low-lying areas.
The Weather Service cautioned residents to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions, reduced visibility and poor braking.
