Paul Campbell scored 19 points to lead five Hawaii players in double figures as UH beat Brigham Young-Hawaii 83-69 in an exhibition game Thursday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
A crowd of 3,235 saw the Rainbows lead almost the entire way and hold off a surge by the Seasiders early in the second half.
Virgil Buensuceso led BYUH with 16 and Rory Patterson added 15 points. Jet Chang had 12.
Petras Balocka added 15 for UH, Jeremy Lay and Adhar Mayen both scored 13 and Leroy Lutu 10.
The stars of both teams, UH forward Roderick Flemings and BYUH center Lucas Alves did not play due to injuries.
BYUH, which went 27-2 last year, is the preseason No. 1 team in Division II.
UH starting forward Bill Amis scored four points in 11 minutes in the first half but did not play after the break. He injured his right foot.
