Hawaii men's basketball senior forward Bill Amis is sidelined indefinitely with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot.
Amis, who led the Rainbow Warriors last season in rebounding at 6.5 per game, was also the team's second-leading scorer at 10.7 points per game. He was the Rainbows' slated starter at power forward in the season opener Nov. 13 vs. Southern Utah.
He tore the fascia connective tissue in the foot (which supports the arch) while making a cut in the first half against Brigham Young-Hawaii on Thursday night. Amis said he will wear a protective boot for about four weeks, then make an effort to return this season.
Amis, a 6-9, 220-pound native of Oklahoma City, Okla., has a redshirt year available if necessary. He was a de facto team captain as a junior in 2008-09.
