Wie tied for 10th at Lorena Ochoa Invitational

Honolulu's Michelle Wie opened with a 2-under 70 today in the opening round of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico, and trails leader Song-Hee Kim (65) by five shots.

Wie is playing for the first time since the Navistar LPGA Classic a month ago and has qualified for next week's inaugural LPGA Tour Championship in Houston. She enters tomorrow's second round tied for 10th.

The 20-year-old Punahou School graduate carded three birdies and a lone bogey at the par-3 17th. She hit 11 of 14 fairways and 17 greens in regulation, averaging 274.5 yards off the tee. She needed 33 putts.

Wie is currently in her sophomore season at Stanford University.
