Body retrieved at harbor entrance
The Honolulu Fire Department retrieved a human body found floating today a mile from the entrance to Honolulu Harbor near a channel buoy.The department's fire boat responded to a request from the Coast Guard at 8:20 a.m. to pick up the body which was turned over to police for investigation.
A fire department spokesman did not know the gender or age of the body.
The body was to be taken to the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office for possible identification and to determine the cause of death.
Further information was not available.

Dead fisherman was Pahoa man
Big Island police identified yesterday the second of two fishermen who drowned Saturday after a wave swept them into the ocean as Reynaldo Lucero Jr., 61, of Pahoa.Lucero and Antonio Lagronio, 52, of Keaau were fishing on a rock when a large wave knocked them down at about 11:45 a.m., Lagronio's wife, who was at the scene, told police.
Lucero tried to pull Lagronio onto shore but was dragged out by the waves, police said.
Both men were found face down in the water about 250 yards from Kapoho Lighthouse. Their bodies were brought to shore by emergency personnel.
Hit-and-run leads to driver's arrest
Kauai police have charged a suspect in a two-vehicle hit-and-run accident in Puhi, a county news release said.David Dotimas, the lone occupant of a two-door Honda sedan, fled the scene after rear-ending another vehicle on Kaumualii Highway at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle chased Dotimas until he stopped at Kauai Nursery & Landscaping.
At the nursery, Dotimas discarded a white plastic bag that contained a .45-caliber handgun and ammunition, police said.
Police arrested Dotimas on Friday on suspicion of driving with a suspended or revoked license, accidents involving damage to vehicles, and failure to render aid. He was released after posting $3,000 bail.
