Officers find truck in hit-and-run

Honolulu police last night found the pickup that fatally struck a motorcyclist in Waipahu Monday and then fled the scene.

The find came hours after the department released a photo of the pickup taken from surveillance video. The vehicle apparently was abandoned, but no further details were available.

The vehicles were traveling on Farrington Highway near Aniani Place at 3:20 p.m. when the truck veered in front of the motorcycle, police said. The 47-year-old motorcyclist, identified by his family as Lindsay Kane of Waipahu, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died.

The truck was described as similar to a Ford F-150, teal or blue-green, with an extended cab and custom rims.
