The Pacific Cancer Foundation, which supports cancer patients, survivors and their families, received $5,000 from the Bank of Hawaii Foundation.
Shriners Hospital for Children received nearly $13,000 from Certified Residential Specialists (CRS) to help fund its new children's hospital, scheduled to open by June 2010. Other local businesses that have supported the "Every Step Is a Victory" capital campaign to raise $14 million include Central Pacific Bank, Hawaiian Airlines and Sheraton Waikiki.
Students at Holy Family Catholic Academy donated $1,000 collected in a coin drive, plus a truckload of household and personal items, for Kupuna (Senior) Care Packages to help Lanakila Meals on Wheels. Some 400 students participated in two community service learning projects in November and December to benefit Lanakila.
The Battleship Missouri Memorial has appointed Keven M. Williamson its supervisor of volunteers. He most recently was education director and volunteer coordinator at Bishop Museum's Hawaii Maritime Center. Williamson also served as director of the Mature Volunteer Organization's Elderhostel Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
